Frequently asked questions.
Do you offer returns ?
No, I do not at this time. All sales are final as these pieces are often limited-edition and one-of-a-kind. Please contact me via email if a piece breaks or is damaged.
How soon will I get my order ?
I aim to ship orders out as soon as possible, within 3 business days maximum, so you should get your order within 5-7 business days. The USPS has been experiencing delays due to COVID so it may take a bit longer. You will receive a tracking number as soon as your order ships so you can stay informed as to the whereabouts of your precious cargo.
I am interested in a custom order, how do I go about that ?
Some styles already have a “Custom” style option (i.e. Yeah, I Said It necklaces) so you can select that and then either email or DM me on IG to place your order. If you’re interested in a similar style to an existing piece, please email or DM me and we can discuss further details.
I noticed you have sizing information in the product description, but I’m not sure if it will fit. I might need it smaller or larger, can you help ?
Yes, of course ! I am more than happy to advise on length and sizing, and depending on the piece, I can make a custom length either smaller or larger to make sure it fits you perfectly. You can email me and we can work something out.
What is the difference between gold-plated, gold-filled and vermeil ? Why do some cost more than others ?
I offer a variety of pieces ranging in affordability because I want everyone to enjoy Excelsior and find what’s right for them and their price range, and the materials I use reflect that. Below is a high-level breakdown of various findings that I use. The details of each piece is listed in the product description. For all pieces no matter what the material, you should avoid contact with water and take it off before showering or working out to reduce tarnishing.
Gold plated: Gold plated jewelry is made from a process called electroplating, which uses an electric current to apply gold with electrolytes on a base metal, typically brass or copper. This can sometimes be the least expensive since there is no karat requirement, and gold plated jewelry can sometimes tarnish and fade relatively easily with regular use, especially if it’s not a high quality plating. However, sometimes I use 18k, 22k or 24k gold plated findings which are more durable as they have a heavier plating and finer material.
Gold vermeil (pronounce ver-may): Gold vermeil jewelry is made of a sterling silver base and plated with a thin layer of solid gold, at least 10K. This is somewhere in between gold plated and gold filled in terms of price and quality, and it won’t tarnish quite as easily as gold plated.
Gold filled: Gold filled jewelry consists of 2-3 layers of solid gold (10K, 14K, 18K and 24K) bonded onto other metals such as brass, silver, or another base metal. This gold layer is significantly thicker than gold plated, sometimes 100x thicker. This is the most expensive (next to solid gold) as it’s more durable and higher quality, and won’t tarnish as easily or as quickly as gold plated or vermeil.
