• Authenticity.

As an artist and maker, I strive to remain true to myself and create what calls to me. My jewelry is an extension of my own personal self-expression and self-exploration creatively. Although I am mindful of what styles/colors/patterns are popular and objectively attractive, I try not to follow trends and instead follow my intuition and inner inspirations when designing to create the most genuine reflection of my vision/vibe at that given moment. I also believe so much in cultivating an authentic sense of personal style — wear what makes you feel good, and what makes you feel most like yourself !

  • Inclusivity.

It is my great hope that there is an Excelsior something for everyone. As we are all unique beings with different preferences and experiences, I try to be very mindful to offer a relatively wide range of styles and techniques, and a variety of sizes, where possible (pending available resources). My pieces are all gender-neutral, although I often design through the female gaze and prioritize sizing intended for the average woman’s proportions.

  • Quality.

Excelsior pieces are made with the highest possible quality, care and attention. I use the finest materials currently available to me, and take a selective and refined approach when sourcing beads and findings. I prefer to work with gold-filled or gold vermeil where possible but also work with fine gold plating and sterling silver. I also highly value sustainability: I often salvage and/or repurpose vintage materials at thrift stores or flea markets, and enjoy giving those pieces new life! Where applicable, I try to support other small businesses on Etsy.

  • Intentionality.

Intentionality is one of my own personal values, and it extends here to Excelsior because I put so much time and effort into creating original, inventive, thoughtful designs, which are a kind of exploratory but purposeful art as each piece is often inlaid with deeper meaning, some of which are explained here in the Descriptions. I take pride in creating truly unique pieces — meaning one-of-a-kind (okay, or sometimes a few-of-a-kind, per Inclusivity above).

  • Luxury.

Luxury is a mindset, a state of being, an essence, if you will. To me, it means actively making time for and cultivating moments of everyday luxury — a pause amidst the quotidian chaos — to appreciate and indulge in beauty/pleasure/art/style/craftsmanship. If putting on your Excelsior as a finishing touch on your fit gives you your moment of glorious gorgeous glam, it will have served its purpose.

  • Groovy-ness.

I try to infuse a little bit of groove into everything I make. It’s gotta be fun, it’s gotta have a little something “special” about it, to stand out from others. I like to play around with all kinds of colors, shapes, textures, materials, etc. and sometimes even add something completely unexpected just to keep everyone on our toes ◡̈ Not every piece is perfect, but c’est la vie: art imitates life. But I’m all about embracing quirkiness and unconventionality — I create unique pieces for unique people.
