I Ching // Changes Porcelain Gemstone & Pearl Beaded Woven Bracelet
Inspired by one of the world’s oldest books and oracles of Chinese divination, called the I Ching, or Book of Changes, this bracelet is a sort of wearable meditation on the constant evolution of change and movement in our lives, in the world, and in the universe.
The bracelet features reclaimed vintage beads sourced at Chelsea Flea Market in NYC in 2022, hand-painted in the traditional Chinese “Qinghua” technique. “Qinghua” literally means “blue flowers” and refers to the familiar blue and white pottery which has become emblematic of China since the 14th century.
Bracelet also features genuine shimmery iridescent white freshwater pearls, blue chalcedony rondelles, small rose quartz rounds, and white glass seed beads. Finished with a 14k gold filled lobster claps made in Italy, with a round white freshwater pearl dangling accent.
Styling Note: Pairs well with the Humanity Necklace and Earring Set.

As Dr. Michael Heng writes for Medium, “At the core of the Yijing (I-Ching) philosophy is the notion of permanent change, an endless fluxing of transformational movement from relative “stability” to radical, sometimes chaotic, disequilibrium before returning to another level of stable order.” In brief, the I-Ching (Yijing) was “developed as a philosophical taxonomy to describe Nature and provide an organizing framework of the universe for mapping the impact of its various interactive elements. It has been used as a knowledge framework for much of Chinese medical and scientific practices as well as political and social governance.”
